As a Psychiatrist, Dr. Akpudo assesses the emotional and cognitive abilities of his patients, and then crafts a treatment plan to help them achieve their personal and professional goals. Dr. Akpudo has earned numerous awards for work, mentor’s students, primarily in psychiatric mental health.
The breadth of Dr. Akpudo's clinical interests is evident from the wide variety of subject matter for which he has been awarded, ranging from cognitive behavior therapy on caregivers of soldiers with traumatic brain injury, to examining depression in adults with spinal cord injuries. Dr. Akpudo is widely published in his field and is often sought as a presenter at medical seminars.
Dr. Akpudo has a loving and happy family of whom he is very proud. One of his favorite quotes is by Nelson Mandela, who said, "A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination."


Ijeoma Obijuru

Ijeoma Obijuru is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Grand Canyon University in Arizona and her master’s degree in nursing from Walden University in Minnesota, specializing in psychiatric mental health. Ijeoma became a registered nurse in 2007 and has worked in medical-surgical, pediatric, and psychiatric units before becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
She focuses on medication management and has extensive experience in evaluating and treating various mental health diagnoses, including adults and adolescents with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and other psychiatric conditions.
Ijeoma believes in taking a holistic approach to treatment for her patients, where medication management is just one aspect of the care plan. By combining therapy with medication, her approach maximizes care for individuals while using the least amount of medication necessary.
With years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, Ijeoma provides quality and compassionate care as a nurse practitioner. She is committed to offering exceptional, individualized, and holistic care to her clients, with the goal of effectively diagnosing and treating their needs. Her priority is to work collaboratively with her patients, creating a holistic care plan that suits them best.

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner dedicated to client-centered care. I focus on providing care for patients with diverse mental health disorders.
With a motivational, compassionate, and empathetic approach, I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and valued. Through collaboration, I help clients navigate challenges, address concerns, and develop personalized mental wellness and growth strategies.
I work with patients who are experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, schizophrenia, substance use disorders, sleep disorders, and personality disorders.


Joy Aneke

Is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Hospitalist at CHA Behavioral Healthcare. Since March 2021, she’s rounded with Dr. Akpudo at Cypress Creek Hospital and Kingwood Pines, delivering evidence-based inpatient psychiatric assessments and treatments for children, adolescents, and adults. Backed by 16 years as an RN and 640 hours of advanced practice training, Joy holds an MSN (PMHNP concentration) from Walden University, a BSN from UT Arlington, current Texas RN licensure, Medication Assisted Treatment and Mental Health Training Services certifications, plus ACLS/PALS credentials.
